About
About Card Calculator
Card Calculator helps you decide which card to use for each kind of purchase. Instead of guessing at the checkout, you put in what you actually spend in each category, line it up against the cards you hold or are considering, and see what each card really returns.
What we focus on
Every guide is built around one calculation, with its assumptions stated before the result. We value points conservatively, at what you could reliably get for them, and we count caps, exclusions and fees as well as headline earn rates.
We also respect simplicity. Sometimes the honest answer is that one or two cards are enough, and the extra effort of juggling categories isn’t worth a few dollars a year.
What we don’t do
- We don’t publish “best card” rankings. Our guides show you how to compare cards on your own spending.
- We never encourage carrying a balance, paying fees to earn rewards without showing the maths, or spending more to earn.
- We don’t promise approval for any card or a particular return.
- When a worked example uses imaginary cards (Card A, Card B), we say so. When it uses a real card, the terms are checked and dated.
Card terms change often. Check the issuer’s official terms before applying for or using a card.
